Report:
The Webinar was held in the benign presence of senior dignitaries from all collaborating societies and chapters. The webinar was aimed to give an overview of the importance of cyber physical social systems in IR5.0. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, BVICAM and Vice Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section, gave the welcome address. He emphasized and motivated the participants to keep learning continuously regardless of disruptions, all around us. He has also discussed the background note of the topic and sensitized that Industrial Revolution (IR) 1.0 was for Mechanization, IR 2.0 was for Electrification, IR 3.0 was for Automation, IR 4.0 was for Digitalization and IR 5.0 will be for Personalization. He said that the first two industrial revolutions took more than 02 centuries to have its impact seamlessly visible across the globe, where as the last two revolutions IR 4.0 and IR 5.0 are going to embrace all of us within a short span of just 02 decades. He that that the changes are inevitable and all of us have to be ready to keep ourselves relevant for the challenges being posed to us on account of huge technological change in the backdrop of these industrial revolutions.
Prof. Manohar Lal, Former Director, SOCIS, IGNOU, New Delhi was the lead speaker of the webinar. He gave a very detailed background of the amalgamation of Cyber – Physical – Social System on account of a total paradigm shift in the backdrop of the huge technological change. He sensitized the participants about both the positive and the negative aspects of the technological changes and educated the participants that how the challenges are now coming for the knowledge workers. He discussed that how will white-collar jobs change. How will workers have to reconfigure their roles as routine work becomes automated and also, how will we, as a society, respond to this huge paradigm shift in which the human and machines are going to get amalgamated. He discussed that the trust of the people, working in the organizations and using the technology will become paramount and thereby the organizations may need to have a Chief Ethical and Humane Use Officer, to supervise that are we using these technologies for the good of the world.
The session concluded with Question & Answer session where participants willingly asked their queries. Prof. M. N. Hoda gave his heartfelt appreciation to Prof. Manohar Lal for his valuable session. He also thanked all the participants and panellist for giving their precious time in attending this webinar and making all the webinars hosted by BVICAM, a huge success. Dr. Ritika Wason, Associate Professor, BVICAM, New Delhi, was the convener of the webinar and has coordinated the entire webinar. The other faculty members of BVICAM; Mr. Uttam Singh Bist and Ms. Ayushi Chopra was working at the backend to make it successful and present it in seamless manner to the participants. The webinar attracted huge participation from across the world and Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi, proved itself, once again, as a perfect host.
