Report:
The workshop began with the Inaugural Session on 23rd November, 2020. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management (BVICAM), New Delhi, welcomed all the guests & attendees, and discussed the background note of conducting this Workshop on OBE. He discussed that it is important to ensure the quality of education in technical programs and develop a confidence among students, Industry and stakeholders. He also motivated all the attendees to develop a passion and make self-commitments to achieve the mission of their Institutes and follow the outcome based curriculum to promote OBE. He further highlighted the significance of Education 4.0 to meet the emerging demands of Industry and emphasized on continuous learning which must go on regardless of all disruptions. Prof. Prerna Gaur, Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section, was the Guest of Honour and highlighted the activities of the IEEE Delhi Section. She also talked about various student chapters introduced under IEEE DS to promote the relationship between Academia and Industry. Chief Guest of the inaugural session, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Noted Academician, Chairman, NBA, New Delhi and Former Founder Vice Chancellor, GGSIP University, New Delhi, highlighted the significance of NBA accredited programs & importance of OBE in modern education system. He also outlined that Institutes must assess their processes to improve quality of teaching–learning for the overall growth of the nation. He presented a detailed differentiation between time based and outcome based paradigm. He motivated all the participants to enthusiastically participate in this workshop and derive quality outcomes from it.
There were various interesting and knowledge imparting online sessions covered in the workshop. Outcome-based NBA Accreditation & SAR by Prof. B. S. Pabla, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research Institute (NITTTR), Chandigarh, Outcome-based Education Framework & its Components (Vision, Mission & PEO), Graduate Attributes & Student Learning Outcomes (GA, PO & CO), Bloom Taxonomy and Design of Learning Outcomes and Project-Based Learning and Design of Outcome based Curriculum – all four sessions by Prof. P. S. Grover, Former Dean & Director, Univ. of Delhi, Mapping Outcomes, Assessment and Rubrics by Prof. H. S. Guruprasad, BMS College, Bengaluru, Attainment of CO, PO and Continuous Quality Improvement – I, Attainment of CO, PO – II (Case Study) and Design of Outcome based Question Paper and Case Study on NBA SAR Filling – all three sessions by Prof. Sanjeev Sofat, PEC University, Chandigarh. The last day of the workshop also witnessed a panel discussion on NBA Accreditation by Panel: Prof. Dharmendra Kumar, Prof. P. S. Grover, Prof. Sanjeev Sofat, Prof. H. S. Guruprasad and Prof. M. N. Hoda.
The objective of this workshop was to nurture the philosophy of Outcome Base Education (OBE) and build the capacity of the young Faculty Members, HODs and Directors of the Institutions, so as to facilitate institutionalization in the Teaching Learning System and other Academic Processes of the Institution. During the workshop, the participants were given Assignments based on the sessions and they also underwent a quiz based on MCQ Tests. On the basis of their performance in these assignments and MCQ Tests, they were ranked at A+, A and B categories. The workshop observed active participation from various research scholars and faculties from different states of the nation, including participants from Andhra University, Jamia Milia Islamia, N. Delhi, School of Mgmt. Science, Varanasi, Christ University, Bangalore, BIT Sindri, Dhanbad, K. L. University, Dibrugarh University, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Puri, National Institute of Technology, Raipur - to name a few.
At the end, few participants shared their experiences on attending this workshop and gave their valuable feedback, appreciating the well organized and well coordinated workshop. The entire workshop was coordinated by Dr. Ritika Wason, Associate Professor, Mr. Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor, Mr. Uttam Singh, Assistant Professor, BVICAM, New Delhi. All the participants were awarded with certificates of participation electronically. Dr. Ritika Wason expressed her vote of thanks to all the attendees for their active participation and professional bodies for their collaboration in this online workshop.
