Business transformation through Big Data and Analytics
Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute’s of Computer Applications and Management, New Delhi and IEEE Delhi Section organized a Technical Talk on “Business transformation through Big Data and Analytics” on 31st Oct. 2018, in association with ISTE Delhi Section, CSI Div II, IV and DC and IETE New Delhi. The honorable speaker of the talk was Mr. Gurjit Singh Butalia from AVP-Technology, Aricent (Altran Group) Gurgaon. Other guests on the dice were Prof. Subrata Mukhopadhyay - IEEE Delhi Section, Mr. V. K. Gupta – CSI Delhi Chapter and Mr. R. K. Vyas – CSI Delhi Chapter.
The event begun with the floral welcome of Mr. Gurjit Singh, followed by welcome address given by Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, BVICAM. Dignitaries on the dice released the next issue of BIJIT (Bharati Vidyapeeth’s International Journal of Information Technology) Volume 4 – Issue 10.
The main objective of the invited talk was to sensitize the audience with the buzz word “Big Data” and its use in real world use cases and how industry is doing business through Big Data Analytics. Data Analytics is one of the most important areas for every industry as it is driving Go-digital efforts in all business. Mr. Gurjit, in his enlightening talk discussed the basic concepts of Big Data along with components and technology stack of Big Data platforms. He also threw light on various use cases where Big Data is used as a tool for decision making and perform predictive analytics, such as Insurance fraud detection, Retail data analysis, Targeted marketing, Customer satisfaction and others. Various big companies are using Big Data Analytics to promote their business and serve their customers. OLA, Amazon, Flipkart, Google, Whatsapp, Netflix, HealthKart are few names.
The session concluded with Vote of thanks given by Prof. Subrata Mukhopadhyay. Mr. Gurjit Singh was presented with a token of gratitude by Mr. V. K. Gupta. The session was attended by CSI members, BVICAM faculty and students. Audience enthusiastically participated in the session. Dr. Vishal Jain, Associate Professor, BVICAM coordinated the entire session.
