Computer Society of India & Consultants Affinity Group of IEEE Delhi Section in association with Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute’s of Computer Applications and Management, New Delhi organized an Invited Talk on “Standards, Global Practices and Latest Trends in Research Paper Publication” on 5^th Nov. 2016. The honorable speaker of the talk was Dr. Harry Blom, Vice President, Computer Science, Mathematics and Publishing Development, Springer, New York, USA. The chief guest of the event was Dr. B. K. Punia, Vice Chancellor, MDU, Rohtak.

The event begun with the floral welcome of the esteemed guests. Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director, BVICAM gave the welcome address followed up by keynote address by Dr. B. K. Punia.

The main objective of the event was to sensitize the audience with what is happening around the world in Research Paper Publishing Industry. Dr. Harry Blom with his enlightening speech sketched the picture of various issues concerned with publication such as growth in scientific production and influence on peer review, actions that are to be taken to improve the efficiency of peer review process etc. He informed the audience with new standards of Springer: CrossMark and FundRef and rise of scholarly collaboration platforms like ResearchGate, Mendeley, Academia etc. He also discussed various other things like Journal level and Paper level metrices like impact factors in his talk.

The session was attended by CSI members, BVICAM faculties, students and professional from other backgrounds. Also present were Mr. Shiv Kumar, RVP CSI R-I & Div-I. Ms. Suvira Srivastava, Associate Editorial Director, Computer Science and Publishing Development, New Delhi. Prof. MN Hoda, felicitated the speaker with a momento. Dr. Anupam Baliyan, Associate Professor, Dr. Vishal Jain, Assistant Professor and Dr. Ritika Wason, Assistant Professor, BVICAM coordinated the entire session.
