Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute’s of Computer Applications and Management, New Delhi and IEEE Delhi Section in association with IETE and ISTE Delhi Section, organized an Invited Talk on “Big Data Analytics” on 19^th Feb 2018. The honorable speaker of the talk was Prof Gurdeep Singh Hura, University of Maryland, USA.

The event begun with the floral welcome of the esteemed guest. The audience was willing to know about the details of Big Data Analytics and the current issues and challenges associated with it.

The talk started by introducing the audience with the current scenario of how we are generating Data at a rapid rate year by year and what are the main sources of this Big Data . Prof. Hura discussed the significance of Big Data Analytics and briefed the tools available for this purpose – Apache Hadoop and Spark. Then he explained data analytics pipeline and application areas of Big Data Analytics in detail. Healthcare, Industry, Educational Institutes, Crime Investigation Departments, Online shopping Websites are all taking advantages of Big Data Analytics by taking deep insights of the data available from different sources. Prof. Hura also threw light on various courses for getting expertise on Big Data Analytics and the essential skills required such as programming skills, statistical and mathematical skills, machine learning skills etc. The session concluded by interacting with audience and answering their questions.

The session was attended by faculties from IPU, N. Delhi, BVICAM faculties and students. Also present were Prof. A. K. Saini, GGSIPU and Prof. M. N. Hoda, Director BVICAM.  Mrs. Tanya Pathak Garg, Assistant Professor, BVICAM coordinated the entire session.
